New air link between Liguria and Poland

On 30 April 2025, three new Wizz Air routes connecting Genoa with Warsaw, Krakow and Budapest were announced at an event held at the Italian Embassy in Warsaw. Promoted by AICE Poland with support from Genoa Airport and Spediporto, the event was attended by Franco Aprile, president of Spediporto.
The presentation also highlighted the major investment plan of over €100 million for the revitalisation of Genoa’s airport. The plan aims to double passenger traffic and establish the airport as a strategic hub in the Mediterranean.

Franco Aprile, a leading figure in international economic relations, explained that his role at AICE Poland is focused on building strong relationships between Italy and Poland. The new routes are part of a broader vision aimed at strengthening Genoa’s role in Europe, moving beyond the traditional centrality of the Rome and Milan hubs.
Aprile stated that Genoa’s leadership in sectors such as logistics and tourism must be supported by adequate air connectivity. The initiative has been met with great interest, confirming the appeal of the Ligurian capital. The thrice-weekly flights to Warsaw and Krakow were launched on 1 May and 17 May respectively.
